Don’t just learn about the language you study, learn how to communicate in that language, in World Languages and Cultures.
In addition to classroom time with a professor, you’ll meet in small groups with a native speaker to practice speaking the language conversationally—an experience that successfully mimics how individuals learn their first language.
Though the World Languages and Culture Program offers a minor in Spanish, you can also receive a certificate of competence that demonstrates your proficiency in your chosen language and an understanding of the culture(s) in which that language is spoken. Certificates are available in Arabic, French, German, Japanese, and Spanish. They also have course available in Chinese and America Sign Language.
