2014/2015 Parking Hang Tag Information

Parking Information for Summer 2014

All University faculty, staff, and students who wish to park their vehicles in a University owned lot (other than the Olmsted pay lot) for the summer of 2014 will need to have their vehicles registered with Drake University Public Safety  This registration will greatly enhance the ability to monitor vehicles in University owned lots from a safety and security aspect.

Faculty and staff who presently have  a 2013-14 Parking Permit do not need to do anything as these permits do not expire until August 17th.  Those who do not have a 2013-14 Parking Permit, but who wish to park in Drake lots this summer  must register  at the Public Safety Office located at 1227-25th Street to obtain a summer permit at no cost.

Both resident and commuter students are required to register vehicles at the Public Safety Office located at 1227-25th Street. The Olmsted pay lot will charge $4 to park (pay on entry) over the summer starting Monday, 5/19/14.  Lot dot cards will be available for purchase at the parking booth for $30 per card for 10 dots.  Drake Public Safety reserves the right to close the Olmsted pay lot partially or in its entirety for reservations made for special events and/or conferences.

Parking Information for Fall 2014/Spring 2015

All University faculty, staff, contract employees and students who wish to park their vehicles in a University-owned parking lot (other than the Olmsted pay lot) for the 2014-2015 school year will need to register their vehicles and purchase a parking hang tag. Parking permits and parking lots are designated as either daily commuter or overnight parking. Prices and details are listed below. Be sure to purchase the appropriately designated permit and read the signage designation posted on the entrance to each parking lot. The type of permit will determine where you are allowed to park on campus.

**Drake University does not replace lost hang tags or refund the purchase price of lost hang tags.

Overnight Parking Permits:

Only students living in Drake residence halls and the Drake West Village will be allowed to purchase overnight permits. Overnight parking permits will be sold on a “first-come-first-served” basis and will only be issued for the actual number of overnight-designated parking spots (approximately 1,100 spots for 2014-2015).

Daily Commuter Parking Permits:

All non-residence hall students and employees should purchase the daily commuter permit. Given the number of students, employees and visitors on the campus each day, there are simply not enough parking spaces on campus to ensure a convenient parking spot for every daily commuter permit sold.

Where to Buy Permits:

Students, faculty and staff are encouraged to register their vehicles and purchase hang tags online via blueView in the Fall.

The link to purchase your parking hang tag can be found on the My Drake Account tab in blueView, My Drake Account Tab, Parking Tools Channel.

Owners of vehicles parked in Drake-owned lots without the hang tag will be subject to a $25 fine and possible towing at owner's expense. If the parking fine is not paid within 30 days of receiving it, an additional $15.00 late fee will be assessed.

If you have questions regarding this process, contact the Security Office at 515-271-2222. A copy of updated parking regulations can be found online at the Parking Tools Channel in blueView
