EMC Center for Insurance and Risk Management

The EMC Insurance Center for Insurance and Risk Management provides support for the advancement of knowledge about insurance, risk management, and actuarial science.  Established many years ago, the center emphasizes the connections among students, faculty, and working professionals in industry, government, and professional educational organizations. Examples of recent collaboration include hosting the Iowa Actuaries Day and the Archie R. Boe Lecture Series, and offering selected courses in support of CPCU studies through our Kelley Continuing Education Program. 

The center directly supports the Employers Mutual Distinguished Professor of Insurance, held by Professor Robert Cooper, and the Robb B. Kelley Distinguished Visiting Professor of Risk Management and Actuarial Science, a position occupied by Assistant Professor John Garza. Professor Lisa Gardner serves as center director.

The center also supports the research activities of faculty in the School of Actuarial Science and Risk Management. Examples of research include:
