Student Organizations

Two student organizations support studies in the School of Actuarial Science and Risk Management:  Drake Actuarial Student Society (DASS) and Gamma Iota Sigma.  You can learn about about DASS by visiting their DASS Facebook page.  Gamma Iota Sigma also maintains a Gamma Iota Sigma Facebook page and a more formal chapter page at www.gammachichapter.org.

There are more than 160 other student organizations on campus, and several actuarial science and business-specific groups. Students in these groups host professional speakers, volunteer in the community, and hold social activities. You may also join a number of professional coed business and/or honor fraternities. For more information about campus clubs and organizations, visit www.drake.edu/life/clubsorganizations.

Adams Bowers Actuarial Education Center

To be an actuary, you must pass a series of exams, and the School of Actuarial Science and Risk Management will prepare you for the first five of these tests. The Adams Bowers Actuarial Education Center, located in the lower level of Aliber Hall, has resources to assist your exam preparation, including textbooks, DVDs, and study guides. The Center continues to be a hub of student study activity in the College, with comfortable study spaces throughout.  You can find it in the lower level of Aliber Hall.  In addition, the center’s endowment provides reimbursements to actuarial science students who have successfully completed actuarial exams and fulfilled other requirements.
