Three interesting things about me:
1. I studied abroad in London and Greece.
2. I love to bake (cookies, bars, macarons, anything!).
3. I have a Miniature Australian Shepherd named Olive.
I love Drake because of the sense of community. Everyone is so proud to be a Bulldog, and everyone wants to help you succeed. As a dog person, I also have to say I love that we have a mascot as cool as Griff! Did you know he hangs out in Cole Hall with the Admissions team on Fridays? Best job perk ever!
My favorite thing to do in Des Moines is to eat! Des Moines has so many awesome restaurants, cultural, arts, and food festivals, and farmers’ markets. There’s always some sort of awesome food or cultural event going on just a short walk or drive away. It’s a foodie’s paradise right here in Iowa and parking is a breeze. Not many urban universities have that, so it’s a total win-win!
My advice for prospective students: If possible, visit campus. It’s going to give you such a great feel for the place where you will spend the next few years of your life. From the physical campus to the students and faculty, it’s great to see it for yourself, ask questions, and get the feel if you could see yourself not only getting an education there, but also growing personally and professionally. Your education is incredibly important, but college is also about the people you meet and the experiences you have that shape you into a well-rounded (and hirable!) adult.
