Since we review each application for admission individually, there is no single, inflexible set of standards—such as GPA, test score, or years of courses. As you apply for admission to Drake, be sure to keep track of due dates to ensure all required documents are sent by the appropriate deadlines.
Priority application deadlines for admission, scholarships, and financial aid consideration are listed below. Applications are accepted after priority dates. Once all required documents are received, complete applications are reviewed and admission notification is made on a rolling basis. For assistance, students are encouraged to contact the Office of Admission to speak with a transfer admission counselor.
Note: Beginning July 1, 2018, transfer applications for the Fall 2018 term may be considered for admission on a case by case basis until the start of classes.
Students applying for the PharmD program for Fall 2017 must submit the application to the Pharmacy College Application Service (PharmCAS) by December 1, 2016. The Drake Supplemental Form and fee must also be submitted to Drake University by December 1.
There is no application deadline for admission to the Doctor of Occupational Therapy (OTD) program. Applications must be submitted through OTCAS. A bachelor's degree is required.
Transfer students are required to complete an online application, submit transcripts and a personal essay. Students who have earned less than 24 semester hours of college credit at the point of application must also submit ACT or SAT scores. Each section below provides specific information for each required element of your application.

Transfer applicants for all programs except Pharm.D. must complete one of the following:
Both options are given equal consideration for admission. There is no application fee when applying online.
Transfer applicants for the Pharm.D. program must apply through the Pharmacy College Application Service (PharmCAS).
Applications for the Occupational Therapy Program (OTD) must be submitted through the Occupational Therapist Centralized Application Service (OTCAS).
All transfer applicants must provide an official transcript from any and all colleges attended for all terms, including summer.
For students who have earned fewer than 24 semester hours of college credit at the point of application we will also require the following:
All transcripts must bear the official seal and signature of the official in charge or records and be sent directly to the Drake University Office of Admission by each institution. Transcripts that are faxed, scanned, photocopied, lacking an original seal, or are in the student’s possession are not considered official documents. If you are using the Common Application, Drake will accept transcripts sent through the Common Application process.

The essay/personal statement is optional.
Should you choose to provide an essay with your application, we encourage you to use one of the essay prompts provided in the Drake application or Common Application. Or, other topics might include: Why do you want to transfer to Drake? What would you like us to know about you, your academic history, or your experiences? Is there additional information you would like to share to give context to your transcripts?”
We review all applications, with or without an essay, with equal attention.
If you have earned 24 or more semester hours of college credit at the point of application, you do not need to submit a standardized test score.
If you have earned less than 24 semester hours of college credit at the point of application, you must arrange for official test scores to be sent to the Office of Admission. For assistance with questions about requirements, students are encouraged to contact the Office of Admission to speak with an admission counselor.
Those who are required to submit test scores will need to have an official copy of either the ACT or SAT sent to the Office of Admission from the appropriate testing agency.
In order to be admitted to the Department of Music, and to be considered for scholarship awards as a Music major, Music minor, or non-major participant, prospective students are required to audition with Drake Music faculty. In order to be admitted to any of the B.F.A. Theatre Arts degree programs or the Musical Theatre minor, and to be considered for a Departmental Fine Arts scholarship award, prospective students are required to audition/present their portfolio either on campus at the Drake Theatre Audition Day or the National Unified Theatre Auditions.
