Drake accepts courses at their DMACC semester hour value. If you plan to complete your associate degree, please work closely with your DMACC advisor or counselor to select courses that will also fulfill those requirements. Additional courses chosen to complete the A.A. degree will be evaluated by Drake according to the standard Course Articulation Agreement; a maximum of 66 semester hours of transfer credit from two-year institutions will be accepted. The Associate Dean in the College of Pharmacy & Health Sciences will determine how each transferred course meets specific degree requirements.

Health Sciences
A degree in health sciences will act as a catalyst for students who want to pursue careers in health care-related fields, including positions that are clinical (clinical and applied sciences track (C)), administrative (health services management track (M)), and research (pharmaceutical sciences track (P)).

Pharmacy (PharmD)
Drake University offers admission to transfer applicants into the College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences at the professional program (PharmD) level, and admission is only granted for the fall semester. Admission is not offered to transfer applicants at the pre-professional level.

Students who will have completed approximately 60 semester hours of academic credit in general education coursework (including public speaking and two semesters of English writing), plus courses in calculus, general biology, microbiology, two semesters of organic chemistry (with lab), statistics and computing by the start of the fall semester generally will be considered for admission to the professional program. Detailed information on pre-requisites and admission criteria is provided at www.drake.edu/cphs.

All professional-program applicants must complete the application offered by the Pharmacy College Application Service (PharmCAS), which is only available at www.PharmCAS.org. Early application, preferably in the fall, is strongly recommended. Drake is now requiring a supplemental application to be submitted directly to the College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences by the deadline. The supplemental form is available on the PharmCAS Web site.

The deadline to apply to the professional PharmD program through PharmCAS is December 1 for the following fall semester; please see the PharmCAS Web site for the specific date. Details on the admission process will be available at the PharmCAS Web site and the Drake College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences Web site in June.

Applicants must take the PCAT no later than October to be considered for admission, and the score should be submitted directly to PharmCAS at code 104. PCAT scores from tests prior to June 2005 cannot be considered. A minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.0 from all institutions attended and a minimum PCAT score at the 50th percentile are required for admission consideration. The College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences will select and invite qualified applicants to interview for a place in the class.
