Major: Health Sciences
Hometown: Anoka, Minnesota
My experiences as a Drake student include: Helping plan Welcome Weekend for new students as a Peer Mentor/Academic Consultant (PMAC); studying abroad in Costa Rica for a semester; working at a non-profit clinic in Des Moines for my senior capstone
Favorite Drake Memory: My sophomore year I had the opportunity to be a Peer Mentor/Academic Consultant (PMAC) and lead a group of First Years around during their first few days at Drake. I loved getting to show off Drake, a place I had come to love, to a group of First Years who were nervous to be here. The best part is I am still friends with some of those students and they love Drake just as much as I do!
Advice for students during the college search: Go with your gut. I know that when I toured schools I had a gut feeling if I would fit in or not. I toured lots of schools that had the major I was interested in, Health Science, but I found that I felt more comfortable at smaller schools that had a lot to offer me. I wanted to get involved at the school I went to and found that during my tours I thought I would be able to do this at smaller school. I trusted my gut and chose to come Drake, and it was the best decision I could have made.
If you go on tour with me, you would see every place you can get coffee on campus because coffee is necessary in college!
