The single best way for you to figure out if Drake is the place for you is to visit campus. While you're here, you can tour buildings, common areas, and green spaces, and spend time with faculty and students. You can even have some Drake-style fun by enjoying on-campus events, as well as some of the recreation and dining options available in Des Moines.
Experiencing what Drake has to offer firsthand will help you get a feel for who we are, and your visit will allow us to get to know you and talk with you about how Drake can help you reach your goals.
To schedule a visit, choose one of the options listed below or contact your admission counselor to discuss what options would be the best fit for you.
An individual visit offers a more personal and flexible itinerary than group visits, with appointments offered Monday through Friday year round. Most visits include a campus tour and a meeting with an admission counselor. Visitors can personalize their campus visit by requesting special appointments with professors in any academic department or staff members in other areas of interest. If available, we'll also treat you to lunch in Drake's dining hall if you're on campus during lunchtime.

The Campus Preview Day agenda is from 8:00 a.m. to 2:15 p.m. Check-in begins 30 minutes prior to the program.
Campus Preview Days are full-day programs designed for prospective students and parents to learn more about life at Drake. Campus Preview Days include a campus tour, academic breakout sessions, an admission presentation, information fair, lunch with the Drake Community, and a Q&A with Drake staff and students.
Campus Preview Half-Days are offered twice daily at either 9:00 a.m. or 1:30 p.m. Check-in begins 30 minutes prior to the program.
Campus Preview Half-Days are designed to give prospective students a sample of life at Drake. Visitors can choose either a morning or afternoon session and the itinerary will include a campus tour, an admission presentation, an academic breakout session with a faculty member, and an optional lunch in Drake's dining hall.
Health Professions Day begins at 9:00 a.m. and ends at 3:00 p.m. Check-in begins 30 minutes prior to the program.
Health Professions Day is designed to introduce prospective students to academic programs that will prepare students for careers in health care professions. The program includes academic breakout sessions in Pharmacy, Occupational Therapy, Health Science and Natural Sciences programs, interactive labs, student and alumni panels, admission information, a professional service fair and campus tours. Lunch in Drake's dining hall will be provided as well.
The October 29 Visit Day begins with Check-in at 9:00 a.m. in Olmsted.
The morning Saturday program will include a Drake overview, a Q&A session with Drake students, and a campus tour. Everyone who visits on a Saturday is welcome to stay after the program for brunch in Hubbell Dining Hall South.
If you love politics and related fields, continue your visit and explore the amazing opportunities at Drake at Politics Day, offered only a few days before the Presidential election! Meet Drake faculty, students, and alums, tour campus, and learn about related academic programs, internships and job placement. Behind-the-scenes visits to local campaign headquarters and party offices, the Iowa State Capitol, public policy organizations, and political consulting and media relations firms will be offered as well.
Business BlueChip Expo begins at 9:30 a.m. and ends at 3:00 p.m. Check-in begins 30 minutes prior to the program.
The Drake College of Business & Public Administration (CBPA) invites students interested in a professional career in business to attend this special day. The visit will include Business professional breakout options with networking and hands-on experience in career fields, admission information, campus tours, a parent information session and a debrief session at the end of the day to share their Business experiences.
The November 5 Visit Day begins with Check-in at 9:00 a.m. in Olmsted.
The morning Saturday program will include a Drake overview, Q&A session with Drake students, and a campus tour. Brunch in Hubbell Dining Hall South will be available at noon.
For students who have an interest in a STEM field, STEM@Drake Day introduces prospective students to Drake’s amazing classroom and lab facilities, academic programs, research opportunities, faculty, and students in the STEM fields. The visit will include information about natural sciences, STEM education, health sciences and pharmacy, mathematics, computer science, and data analytics; class options; student and alumni panels; science lab tours and insights about two new STEM buildings opening in Fall, 2017.
Saturday Visit with Music Audition Option begins at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, November 5. Check-in begins 30 minutes prior to the program.
In addition to the formal Music Audition Days on February 3rd or 17th, the music department welcomes students who would like the option to audition this fall to attend this visit day which will begin with an admission visit in the morning and auditions scheduled on a space-available basis in the afternoon, following a Music Department Overview at 1 p.m. For students who wish to schedule a music audition, please contact Graydon McGrannahan, Music Marketing and Recruiting Coordinator at Graydon.email@example.com, no later than October 29, 2016.
The Saturday Visit Day agenda starts at 9:30 a.m. and ends at noon. Students and parents are invited to stay after the program for brunch in Drake's dining hall. Check-in begins 30 minutes prior to the program.
The campus (and most students) are usually fast asleep on Saturday mornings, but if you don't mind the quiet, this can be a great opportunity to check out Drake. Fall Saturday programs include an admission overview, a Q&A with Drake students, and a campus tour. Saturday visitors are welcome to stay after the program for brunch in our dining hall (when Drake students begin waking).
Check out the campus calendar to see if you can catch a football game, basketball game, theatre production or concert on your own in the afternoon.
The Admitted Student Day agenda begins at 8:00 a.m. and ends at 3:00 p.m. Check-in begins 30 minutes prior to the program.
Admitted students are encouraged to attend this program, designed for students who are finalizing their college search decision. Admitted Student Days include a full-day agenda, which offers students a glimpse into the life of a Drake student during a weekday. The itinerary includes a campus tour, an academic break-out session, simulated class options, a Q&A with Drake students, faculty and staff, and lunch in the dining hall with Drake students. Various information sessions will also be offered on topics such as Drake's January Term experience, student involvement opportunities, residence hall tours, study abroad, fraternities and sororities, athletics and intramurals, campus resources, internships, research, the Honors program, and much more.
