Director of the Anderson Gallery
Joshua Cox, a native Midwesterner, earned his M.S. in Art History and Criticism from Pratt Institute in 2002 and his M.F.A. from the Art Institute of Boston in 2012. He joined the Drake community as Gallery Director in the fall of 2016.
An active gallerist, curator, and artist, Josh works within the city to further the engagement of artists and community members. Because the potential impact of the arts within a social sphere is so powerful, Josh focuses on fostering an integration of artists and non-artists. Through the creation of in-house exhibits, cross-curricular, and multi-venue programming, Josh’s goals for the Anderson Gallery will center on education, social initiatives, participation, and critical discourse.
Josh has produced exhibits for the Peoria Art Guild, Peoria Riverfront Museum, Prairie Center of the Arts, and Backspace Collective in Peoria, Illinois. He has written for the Whiskey City Collaborative in Peoria and taught at Bradley University and Illinois College. As an artist, he has exhibited and lectured across Illinois.
