Church Service in Chichicastenango

Sunday morning, some of our group goes to breakfast, the rest go to a service at the cathedral in Chichicastenango. The cathedral was built upon a Mayan holy site, and today the two religions coexist there in some sense. Outside of the church are Mayan priests blessing the site with incense, while inside the Christain ceremony proceeds while a Mayan woman lights traditional candles in the entryway.

The ceremony is in Spanish, but Dan translates for those who don't speak the language.
