We get a rare tour of a coffee plantation near the Lucas Toliman Mission. There is a small, permanent village where workers live, and as we arrive many women are washing their clothes in the same water that we are told they will later drink from. We learn about how coffee is grown, picked, and processed, and get our first look at coffee plants growing in the fertile, volcanic soil.
