(Instrumental, Piano and Vocal)
Candidates for the bachelor of music degree with a major in applied music performance are prepared to work as performers, studio teachers, teachers of applied music in private schools or colleges or to continue their studies at the graduate level. Students may pursue a major in applied instrumental (piano, harpsichord, organ, strings, winds and percussion, harp, and guitar) and applied voice.

Special Opportunities/Career Options
The department offer numerous opportunites for its students to perform as soloists, as chamber musicians, or as members of large ensembles. In addition, prominent clinicians are frequently brought to Drake campus for master classes and recitals. The curriculum provides studio lessons with courses in pedagogy, literature, theory, history and performance practice. A senior recital in the student's major applied music field is required.
