Young Violin Program

Instructed by Christine Johnson, this program is for children ages three through eight.  Students receive two types of instruction—a twenty-minute individual lesson and a thirty-minute group class lesson. The Young Violinists present solo and/or group recitals during the fall and spring semesters.

The instructional content and activities include

• Learning children’s songs and pieces in the Suzuki style

• Reading notation (separate from playing the violin)

• Counting rhythms

• Beginning theory

• Practice performing

• Group playing
