Auditioning for a Drake Jazz Ensemble is an fun and easy way to get involved in the Drake Jazz Program. Auditions are held the first evening of each semester at the following times:

Rhythm Section 6:30-7:45 at the Mainstay (25th and Forest)

Trumpets 8-8:45 FAC 402 (Prof. Classen's Office)

Trombones 8:45-9:30 FAC 402

Saxophones 9:30- 10:15 FAC 402

Wind players will be asked to demonstrate their skill in sightreading and improvisation. Rhythm section players will have to meet the same requirements as wind players in sightreading and improvisation, as well as demonstrate any skills unique to their instrument i.e. comping, walking bass lines etc.

Results are posted the next afternoon in the Fine Arts Center and on the web in time for that evenings rehersals (rehersals begin the first week of every semester). If you have any questions e-mail Professor Classen
