...The band possesses the fresh sound of hungry musicians who take every element of musicality dead serious. The soloists make the changes and are smooth in delivery. The rhythm section is on a mission and definitely 'drives the bus' (i.e. I Got Rhythm- Wow!). Combining these ingredients shows that this ensemble has it's act together... remember that all of these students are still undergraduates! Look for another generation of of young jazz stars to emerge from Drake University, keeping the rest of the jazz listening public tuned in to Iowa for jazz greatness.
