Central Mission of the Organization:

To build communities of inclusion - both political and economic. To promote an ethic wherein human rights, justice and peace are the reality.  Based upon Quaker principles of non-violence.

History of the Organization:

1917: AFSC founded to provide refugee support in Europe during World War I.
1970: Formed Iowa office. Focus on Latin America, Asia and race relations.
1990s: Focus on economic justice, militarism and immigration.

International Issues and Focus:

Peace.
Economic justice.
Immigration.

Events and Programs Sponsored:

Immigrant rights workshops.
Labor-Faith Coalition.
Peace-building educational campaigns.

Membership:

AFSC is not a membership organization, but welcomes contributions by concerned individuals.
