Central Mission of the Organization:

The World Food Prize is the foremost international award recognizing -- without regard to race, religion, nationality, or political beliefs -- the achievements of individuals who have advanced human development by improving the quality, quantity or availability of food in the world.

History of the Organization:

Founded in 1986 by Nobel Peace Prize winner and plant biologist Norman Borlaug. The World Food Prize is sponsored by a gift from businessma and philanthropist John Ruan.

International Issues and Focus:

Global issues related to food, agricultural and hunger.

Events and Programs Sponsored:

Annual World Food Prize International Symposium.
World Food Prize Youth Institute.
Borlaug-Ruan International Internship Program.
