Scenes from Mexico
The
"Peso Crisis" that began in late 1994 led to serious economic hardship
for many. Cuts in public spending and growing income inequality have sparked
political tensions. In this demonstration through the heart of Mexico City,
60,000 teachers from all over Central Mexico gathered to protest low wages
and poorly equipped schools. Over sixty teachers were injured in clashes
with police.
