ART HIST I
An illustrated study of architecture, sculpture, and
painting of Europe, north Africa, and western Asia
from prehistoric times through the Gothic Period.

An illustrated study of architecture, sculpture, and
painting, primarily of Europe and the United States,
from the Renaissance to the present day.

ART OF INDIA, CHINA, AND JAPAN
An illustrated historical study of the architecture,
sculpture, and painting of India, China, and Japan,
and of the Asian regions strongly influenced by them.
Prereq.: Sophomore standing.
ART 104 - CHRISTIAN
ART: ART OF MIDLE AGES
A study of the works of art and architecture produced
for the Christian religion with special emphasis given
to their liturgical functions and iconography. The
history of Christian art is traced from its origins
in pagan and Jewish art, through the Medieval period
to the present. Prereq.: Sophomore standing.

- ITALIAN RENAISSANCE ART HISTORY
An illustrated study of painting, sculpture, and architecture
made in Italy between 1300 and 1600. Prereq.: ART 75
or ART 76.
ART 106 - 17TH/18TH
CENTURY ART
An illustrated study of European painting and sculpture
from the Early Baroque to the beginning of the Neo-Classical.
Artists covered include Carravaggio, the Carracci,
Bernini, Rubens, Poussin, Velazquez, Rembrandt, Watteau,
Hogarth, and Tiepolo. Prereq.: ART 76.

CENTURY ART HISTORY
An illustrated survey of art and architecture created
in Europe and the United States during the nineteenth
century. Prereq.: ART 76.
ART 108 - AMERICAN
ART HISTORY
An illustrated study of painting, sculpture, architecture,
and related arts of the United States from the Colonial
Period to the present. Prereq.: ART 76.
ART 109 - MODERN
ART HISTORY
An illustrated examination of painting, sculpture,
and architecture from the turn of the century to 1945.
Prereq.: ART 76.
ART 110 - ART SINCE
1945
An examination of major developments in American and
European art from the post-war period to the present.
Prereq.: ART 74 or ART 76.
ART 112 - SELECTED
TOPICS IN ART HISTORY
This course examines specific topics in art history
not otherwise covered in art curriculum. Students may
repeat the course as long as a different topic is covered.
