This program will enable you to understand not just the visual nature but also the intellectual and philosophical aspects of art. You will learn the ways in which art reveals facts about the physical world and the human mind and heart, and you will perceive the close bond between a work of art and the civilization that produced it. As you study artistic styles of the past in relationship to the present, you will discover intriguing aspects of art as well as your own ideas. You will see art as a form of inquiry, a way of thinking about what it means to be human.
