BCMB Awards 2000-2001

 

THE OUTSTANDING BIOCHEMISTRY, CELL AND MOLECULAR BIOLOGY FRESHMAN AWARD is awarded annually to a first year student for outstanding performance, interest and aptitude in Biochemistry, Cell and Molecular Biology.

The recipient of this year's Outstanding Freshman Award was selected for his outstanding performance, interest and aptitude in Biochemistry, Cell and Molecular Biology. The award is based on performance in exams, laboratory and internship plans and the award is a monogrammed laboratory coat.

THE BIOCHEMISTRY, CELL AND MOLECULAR BIOLOGY APPRENTICE AWARD is awarded annually to a student demonstrating interest, aptitude and outstanding first year performance in Biochemistry, Cell and Molecular Biology research.

The recipient of this year's research apprentice award is Carrie M, selected for her interest, aptitude and outstanding first year performance in the bcmb trauma research, resulting in authorship on 5 research abstracts. She will continue this research next year and will participate in a summer internship at Harvard. She was awarded a monogrammed laboratory coat.

IMMC SURGEY RESEARCH AWARD was awarded to 2 Advanced Molecular Life Sciences students who has demonstrated noteworthy research and leadership skills. This student is awarded a summer research position at IMMC.

This year the award goes to Rob Stanfell and Greg Skerrit.who will be authors on 5 abstracts resulting from their work. They will recieve Summer stipends for research at IMMC.

THE OUTSTANDING BIOCHEMISTRY, CELL AND MOLECULAR BIOLOGY SENIOR MENTOR AWARD is awarded annually to a senior who has served as a outstanding mentor to novice researchers. This student exhibits leadership, teaching skills, team-building skills and has mastery of the research skills and concepts.

This year the award goes to Brian Freeman and Rob Vincent for their work in trauma research, resulting in authorship on 15 abstracts and 3 manuscripts. They will recieve travel and expenses to International Shock Conference in San Marco, 2001.
