Acknowledgements
Foremost, I wish to thank Holly Ford, Graduate Assistant in the M. A. program in Biology and Education at Drake University, for her careful work in preparing and cataloging the herbarium specimens collected from the Saylorville site, and for her dedication to the success of this project. My appreciation is extended also to Burton Haglan , Instructor Emeritus of Botany at Drake University, for technical advice, and to Jerry Honts, Assistant Professor of Biology, for his mentorship in the area of computer graphics and web site development. I would like to thank Jim Christiansen, Professor of Biology, for taking pictures of the goatsbeard and pale coneflower, when I was unable to get into the field. I especially appreciate the cooperation received from the U. S. Army Corps of Engineers and their personnel, Jerry DeMarce, Director of the Saylorville Lake Recreation Area, and Ranger Kelly Ulrick, for providing office space, at the Saylorville site, for completion of this project during my sabbatical leave. Funding, received from a Drake University Faculty Research Grant and from the Department of Biology, toward this project, is greatfully acknowledged.
