Interdisciplinary Programs & Concentrations

Drake University is committed to nurturing a vibrant interdisciplinary academic culture. A wide range of programs and events provide opportunities to reflect on and supplement established traditions of learning, and to coordinate resources from across the university to address important intellectual and social problems. These programs can help students become reflective practitioners and engaged citizens, and many of them provide state of the art preparation for specific vocational objectives. English Department faculty contribute or cross-list courses with many of these programs, and such courses can be counted toward both the English or Writing major and the interdisciplinary concentration. Further, many of these concentrations can serve as the Area of Interest for the Writing Major.
