Course Description This 3-semester hour course is restricted to Elementary Education major seeking a mathematics. For elementary education/mathematics endorsement majors it is highly recommended that this course be taken after Math 25. Current issues in teaching mathematics in grades Pre-Kindergarten – 8 are discussed. The National Council of Teachers of Mathematics (NCTM) document Principles and Standards for School Mathematics (PSSM) is the basis for discussion of what mathematics programs in the public school should look like.
