The Center provides opportunities for financial support to faculty who are engaged in individual research that requires visits to libraries, museums, collections or archives in locations outside of Des Moines, Iowa. Grants for international travel are currently capped at three thousand six hundred ($3600) dollars; awards for domestic travel are capped at two thousand ($2000) dollars.

The number of travel grants awarded is determined by the amount of funds available each year, and the number and size of requests received. Proposals for travel funding should include a narrative describing the purpose of the travel, the type of materials to be examined or consulted and their relevance for the project being undertaken. In addition to the standard application form, a detailed itinerary and projected budget should also be submitted.
