Mathlab

The Math Lab, located in Meredith 236 and 237, primarily exists to provide drop-in tutoring, by peer tutors, to students in Math 20, 28, 50, 70, 80, and 100. Tutoring may be available for other classes but this depends on the tutors’ abilities. The tutors are also knowledgeable in the use of graphing calculators and are available to help students with any calculator questions. In addition, solutions manuals are available for select classes (20, 28, 50, 70, and 100) depending on teacher preference. Ten computers are available during normal lab hours for students in all math classes and are equipped with select math and calculator software, in addition to Office and other normal computer software.

    Sheppard Lab

The department offers students a computer laboratory in Howard 214 in order to serve students' supplemental computing needs. The Sheppard lab consists of ten AMD-based PCs running the Ubuntu distribution of Linux. We are proud to offer free color laser printing, 19-inch LCD monitors, and a streaming music website.

    VR Lab

The Drake University Virtual Reality Lab is designed to give computer science students research opportunities and provide experience developing large, modular, application software. The setup consists of a two-wall projection system in which a viewer wears LCD shutter glasses while looking at images that are alternated for each eye. The effect is a 3D perception of a VR environment.
