The B. S. degree requires 34 hours of course work in the Department
of Psychology. This degree is intended for students who anticipate
going to graduate school in psychology or related sciences. The
course requirements reflect the breadth and rigor necessary to
prepare for the Graduate Record Examinations and graduate school.
Students are also encouraged to take courses in the arts and sciences
that will improve their verbal, quantitative, and critical reasoning
skills.
It should be noted that students must pass Psychology 15, with
a grade of C or better in order to complete
the psychology major for the Bachelor of Science degree.

NOTES:
1. Additional laboratory courses beyond the one required course
may be used to complete the upper division requirements.
2. History and Systems of Psychology (PSY 151) can count toward
the 12 hours of upper division credit, but does not count toward
the requirement of taking one course in each cluster.
Bachelor of Science students are encouraged to take independent
study (Psych 190 and/or 191) and other psychology courses to complete
the major. These courses will count toward the Arts and Sciences
degree. Courses strongly recommended for B. S. students with GPAs
of 3.00 and above who are interested in graduate study in psychology:
(Psy 111) Advanced statistics, and two laboratory courses; one
human, one animal. Also, participation in a Research Seminar (PSY
198 series) is strongly encouraged for students pursuing this
degree.
As part of the requirements for Bachelor of Science degrees in
the Division of Natural Science, which includes the Department
of Psychology, twelve semester hours must be successfully completed
in natural science courses outside the student's major department.
Courses in the Departments of Astronomy, Biology, Computer Science,
Environmental Science, Mathematics, and Physics will fulfill this
requirement for psychology majors. Math 20 and Math 50 are among
the courses that may be selected to complete this requirement.
One of the natural science courses outside the major department
must include a laboratory.
