Darcie Vandegrift received her B.A. in sociology from Trinity University in San Antonio, Texas, and her M.A. and Ph.D. in Sociology from the University of California at Santa Barbara.  She has conducted research in Costa Rica as a Fulbright and Fulbright-Hayes Scholar.  She taught and conducted research in Summer 2004 at the New York Institute for Cultural and Cognitive Studies at St. Petersburg State University in Russia. Her teaching and research interests include critical development studies, globalization, social inequality, the social construction of motherhood, social and collective memory and research methods.
