Article I

Name

The theatre student concern committee of Drake University will be called Fiderlick Dramaturg (FD), named after Professor James J. Fiderlick, founder of the speech and drama departments at Drake University.


Article II

Objectives

To address student concerns, serve as liaison between students and administration, increase Drake University and its community's knowledge and appreciation of the theatre department, and to improve the theatre department.


Article III

Membership

General membership and positions on the EC (see article IV) are open to Drake theatre majors, minors, and friends of Drake theatre.

Executive Committee

Students elect the Executive Committee (EC). Members of the EC shall include president, vice-president, secretary, treasurer, publicity, special projects, student concerns, and first year representative.


Article V

Meetings

All meetings are open to the public. There will be one meeting each week, with the exception of tech weeks. All meetings will be held after rehearsals are dismissed, at a time to be determined by the president. Meetings at an earlier time, i.e. dinner meetings, are to be held at the discretion of the president.




Bylaws

Article I

Elections

Elections for the EC positions will be held on the last meeting of the spring semester. Those who wish to be on the EC must be nominated. At this meeting, the candidates may deliver a speech. EC members are to be elected by all the members of FD. The first year representative will be elected by their class and the standing EC.


Article II

Officer's Duties

President: preside over meetings, oversee activities, casts tie breaking vote if necessary.

Vice President: preside over meetings in absence of president, serve as sergeant at arms during meetings, committee overseer, correspond with faculty and members of the Des Moines community.

Secretary: record and distribute minutes for each meeting, gather and distribute information, and type necessary documents.

Treasurer: oversee FD's budget, allocate and distribute funds for activities, and create/manage fundraising efforts.

Publicity: promotion of FD and its activities.

Special Projects: organizing activities of student interest, and organizing special receptions/dedications organized by FD.

Student Concerns: liaison between FD members and the EC, responsible for bringing concerns to the EC meetings.

First Year Representative: represents the views of the freshman class, brings concerns of the class to the EC meetings.


Article III

Monies

Monies are to be stored in an Organization Account at Mercantile Bank of Des Moines. Moines are to be spent as approved by a majority of the EC. In the event that FD is disbanded, the money left in the account shall be transferred to a Theatre Department account earmarked for support of student productions.


Article IV

Removal from Office

Should the event occur in which any officer is unable to fulfill his/her duties or if his/her duties have been deemed unsatisfactory by the EC, the officer shall be removed from office by a majority of the members present. A special election shall be held to fill the vacant office according to the election procedure.
