Special Events

The Special Events/Community Service Committee develops and implements plans for special events on campus and shall offers ideas for enhancing community service opportunities across campus.

Recent Events

October 2009: Pumpkin Palooza.

Faculty and staff enjoyed a festive fall lunch at Hubbell and donated 73 non-perishable food items and $16 in cash for the DMARC food pantry. Participants received an entry into prize drawings and a discounted meal price. View more photos in the gallery.

June 2009: Sixth Annual Drake Mini-Golf.

Approximately 100 employees enjoyed miniature golfing at holes designed by offices and departments across campus. View the photo gallery from the event and the listing of prize winners.

April 2009: Best in Show.

Winners of the monthly SPOTlight Award were honored at a Hollywood-style celebration, and Suzanne Brown was named Best in Show. Click here for more photos of the event.

March 2009: Spike's Food Drive.

Drake students, faculty and staff recently joined together to donate $247 and one and a half vans full of food to DMARC's food pantry.

February 2009: Grounddog Day.

Spike saw his shadow, forec
asting six more weeks of winter, but faculty and staff spirits remained high while they enjoyed refreshments and answered Drake-themed trivia questions. Click here for more photos of the event.

December 2008: Des Moines Public Schools Circle of Support Winter Wear Collection.

Seven totes of mittens, hats, and coats were collected. This is the largest amount ever donated from the ASC. Click here for more photos of the event.

November 2008: Food Bank of Iowa Canned Food Collection.

Ninety-nine items and $46 were collected at the Thanksgiving buffet. Click here for more photos of the event.
