The Office of Budget manages the budgeting and financial planning operations of Drake.
Each spring, the budget office coordinates the preparation of the original operating budget which is submitted to the Board of Trustees in April for their review and approval.
Once approved, the budget becomes the University’s spending plan for the next fiscal year (July 1 through June 30). Throughout the fiscal year, we work with university staff to adjust the budget via budget adjustments which reflect the implementation of university and departmental initiatives. In addition, all vacant positions go through the Budget Office for budget approval before being forward to Human Resources. The Budget Office reconciles all staff and faculty payroll accounts to ensure adequate budget funding. The Budget Office also prepares routine and ad hoc financial analyses to assist university administrators.
