VERIFICATION PROCESS

 

2008-09 Student Health Insurance Plan Enhancements:

  • Changed the per injury deductible of $300 to an annual deductible of $300 for IN network preferred providers and $500 annual deductible for OUT of network non-preferred providers.
  • Added a Dental PPO Insurance Voluntary Plan Option for an annual premium of $291.
  • Continue to offer the voluntary Vital Savings Discount Card Program that gives a percentage off of the cost for services negotiated with several providers.  Some of the services include: dental, vision, natural care, etc.  This voluntary discount card costs an additional $25.
  • Added a Quit Tobacco Program.

 

As a reminder of the student health insurance policy:

 

All Drake University International students (full-time and part-time) with F-1 and J-1 visas are required to enroll in the Drake University Student Health Insurance Plan, and may not waive the insurance to remove the charge.

All Drake students who are taking 10 or more credit hours and are U.S. citizens, permanent residents, and students on other types of visas are required to enroll in Drake’s Aetna Student Health Insurance Plan,
                                               OR
satisfy Drake’s insurance requirement by verifying enrollment in a comparable plan.

IMPORTANT: If you do not enroll in or decline/waive out of the Aetna Student Health Insurance Plan by September 12, 2008, you will be automatically enrolled in Drake’s Aetna Student Health Insurance Plan and charged the applicable premium. (Annual: Student $987/Student Athletes $1232).
