Travel Assistance and Emergency Security 24/7 (MEDEX) - (coordinate & arrange service) 

Must contact MEDEX first before initiating any of these services: 800-527-0218 US/ 1 410-453-6330 Worldwide Collect.  MEDEX provides a comprehensive range of information, referral, coordination and arrangement services for domestic and abroad trips, as well as, emergency security evacuation for Political Unrest or Natural Disaster for abroad trips.  NOTE: only those listed on the Description of Covered Services document are paid for by MEDEX.

MEDEX GROUP TRAVEL ASSISTANCE SERVICES: Brief Definition of Service
MEDEX covers plan specified charges as long as MEDEX is notified before the services are secured.

 

The Total of all services in connection with
emergency evacuation, medically necessary
repatriation,
transportation for a family member
or friend, return of dependent child(ren)
repatriation of remains up to plan limits.
Accident Medical Assistance Assist in finding nearest facility available that is
capable of providing appropriate care.
Sickness/Hospital - Benefit up to 61 days Assistance Assist  in finding nearest facility available that is
capable of providing appropriate care.
Emergency Medical Transportation Assist in finding nearest facility available that is
capable of providing appropriate care and if patient
is in hospital for more than 7 days and traveled
alone- MEDEX will fly a family member or friend
of the participant's choosing to the hospital.  See
Description of Covered Services.
Medically Necessary Repatriation If Physician and MEDEX's Medical Director deem medically
necessary, MEDEX will arrange and pay for transportation
and assist in securing medical services as described in the
Description of Covered Services.
Repatriation of Remains Arrange and pay for locating a sending and receiving funeral home, transportation of body, and other services as outlined in the Description of Covered Services.
Security Rider for Emergency Security Situation Evacuations Traveler is in Country, Evacuations for Political Unrest or Natural Disaster.  Arrange and pay for up to plan limits.
Accidental Death and Dismemberment-Air Limited through CHUBB, an accidental death and dismemberment policy.

Assistance in securing: Emergency cash, translator /interpreter services, credit card replacement, message services, passport and visa replacement, health hazards advisory, locating legal services/bail bonds, weather information, currency exchange and MORE.


"Optional" INSURANCE PLAN SOURCES:

Drake offered student health insurance plan is through United HealthCare.  This coverage is an open access PPO plan and would cover as a preferred provider would cover to the limits of the plan.  Only available to students who have signed up and paid for the plan.  The plan also includes an Emergency Medical Transportation Assistance component through Assist America Emergency Services, e.g., Emergency Evacuation/Repatriation.  To find out more information or to enroll in the plan during an open enrollment period, go online to www.uhcsr.com, or contact Business and Finance, 515-271-3116.

Optional ISIC Insurance through AIG Travel Guard (basic coverage or assistance for sickness, injury, AD&D, repatriation and emergency evacuation).  Enroll in and pay for through Drake's International Center.  Ask for Jen at 515-271-3073.  Product Number: 007439-CT P1.
