Women in STEM Social [Academics]
07:00 PM - 09:00 PM @ Levitt Hall (Old Main) - An event for all women in STEM both on campus and in the community. Alumni, professionals and local high school students will be invited to join current Drake University women in STEM to socialize, inspire, and encourage each other in reaching their STEM goals. The event will feature guest speakers followed by a dessert reception and time to interact with women in your chosen STEM field. Attire is smart casual. The Hawley Foundation Lecture 2018: The Truth about Jonestown, and Other Fictions [Academics]
07:00 PM - 08:30 PM @ Sussman Theater - Lecturer: Rebecca Moore The mass murder-suicides that occurred in Jonestown, Guyana in 1978 have generated multiple reports, explanations and theories about what led members of Peoples Temple to their tragic demise. Dr. Rebecca Moore examines these competing narratives in order to understand voices that have been erased from popular media accounts: those of women, African Americans, and citizens of Guyana.
