Jenna Gibson - Career talk on internationally related post-graduate opportunities [Academics]
12:30 PM - 01:30 PM @ Medbury Honors Lounge - Jenna Gibson of the Korea Economic Institute of America will present a career talk for all students contemplating internationally related post-graduate opportunities. A graduate of the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, in international studies and journalism, Ms. Gibson went on to a Fulbright fellowship in South Korea and a Master’s program at Georgetown University. She is now the Director of Communications at the Korea Economic Institute. Lunch will be served thanks to financial support from the Principal Center for Global Citizenship at Drake. Film has graphic scenes, including those depicting sexual violence. Film will be followed by discussion. Panel "Understanding the Rohingya Refugee Crisis" [Academics]
06:30 PM - 08:00 PM @ Sussman Theater, lower level of Olmsted Center - Panelists: Parvez Hashem and EMBARC representative(s), including Mr. Aung Han. Parvez Hashem is an attorney in the Supreme Court of Bangladesh, human rights lawyer, and activist who has served as a powerful voice for Bangladesh’s most disadvantaged and marginalized groups in his country’s courts of law. Hashem has worked for different non-profit organizations in education, child rights, human rights, good governance, environment, water supply and sanitation, arsenic mitigation, solid waste management, disaster management, health education and promotion, social mobilization, capacity building of local institutions, research and communication. His articles and reports on politics, economics, development, human rights, good governance and international relation have been published in leading newspapers in his country. Panel to be followed by a reception on Pomerantz Stage.
