CARE Committee

The CARE committee consists of representatives from each college, various student support offices, departments, and administration. The CARE committee meets once a month and a CARE subgroup meets as needed.

The purpose of the CARE committee:

  • Work collaboratively with faculty, staff, administration, and concerned others.
  • Recommend interventions or action as appropriate.
  • Educate the campus community about identifying concerning behaviors.
  • Create a campus culture that fosters sharing concerns.

The purpose of the CARE committee subgroup:

  • Help prevent situations of concern from escalating.
  • Monitor and evaluate current and new students of concern from each college or department.
  • Maintain confidentiality and handle all matters discreetly.
  • Recommend interventions or action as appropriate.

  • Academic Achievement, Academic Success and Retention Specialist
  • Associate Dean of Students, Chair
  • Associate Provost for Academic Excellence
  • Associate Provost for Diversity and Inclusion
  • Athletics
  • Coordinator, Student Support Services and Case Management, Co-Chair
  • Community Standards and Conduct Officer
  • Public Safety
  • Residence Life staff
  • Representatives from every college; Arts & Sciences, Journalism & Mass Communication, Business and Public Administration, Education and the Law School
  • Student Counseling and Student Health Services
  • Student Disability Services
  • Title IX

Note: The CARE committee does not replace faculty classroom management, conduct processes, and/or public safety responses to incidents.
