With the shifting social and economic demographics in Iowa, the demand for quality teachers who are experts in literacy education has never been greater.

Drake University offers the newest master’s degree in literacy education in the state of Iowa to meet this growing and critical need. The program is designed for teachers and other educators who desire to lead literacy initiatives, become literacy coaches, develop curriculum, serve as master teachers and learn new strategies and techniques to assist students struggling in the classroom.

The program emphasizes contemporary skills in literacy education and research. Coursework is comprised of seven core classes (learn more here). It provides an opportunity to earn a reading endorsement or reading specialist endorsement.

The part-time program is designed for students who work full time, with classes on evenings and weekends. To learn more about the benefits of the program, visit the Program Highlights page.
