Drake's offers undergraduate students a wide variety of education abroad opportunities in more than 60 countries. Students may choose among programs ranging in duration from a few weeks to a semester or full year. Education abroad opportunities may feature independent study, internships, service learning, language immersion, home hosting or direct enrollment in partner universities. Short-term programs abroad taught by Drake faculty vary each year and are attractive options for J-term or summer study.
Students should begin exploring their options early and work closely with the Education Abroad Office and their advisers to ensure that courses meet specific degree requirements. Many students discover that an education abroad experience works well during their sophomore year at Drake and some find that they are able to participate in two different programs if they plan well.
Admission requirements and costs vary by program but most students can find an education abroad opportunity that meets their academic and financial needs. Student Financial Planning will work directly with each education abroad applicant to weigh financial considerations of programs that interest them.
