The Department of Actuarial Science and Statistics has five faculty members. Here
is some brief information about them:
Stuart A. Klugman,
FSA, PhD -- Principal Financial Group Professor of Actuarial Science. Stuart has
been teaching at Drake since 1987. Prior to that he taught actuarial science at the
University of Iowa. He is co-author of three books and from 2001-2003
served as an elected

Rahul A. Parsa,
PhD -- Professor of Actuarial Science. Rahul has
been teaching at Drake since 1990. In 2003, Rahul received
Fulbright scholarship award that enabled
him to teach and conduct research at University
of KwaZulu-Natal,
Durban, South Africa.
He is also a recipient of Harry Wolk researcher of the Year award given by the
college. His research interests are copulas, biostatistics, and correspondence
analysis. He is currently making a transition to actuarial teaching. Email him at

Paul Judd, ASA, MS -- Visiting Assistant Professor of Statistics started in
August 2003. Prior to that he had taught for the math department and had
been an actuary with the Principal Financial Group. His e-mail address is

Therese Vaughan, PhD, ASA, ACAS,
CPCU -- Robb B. Kelley Distinguished Professor of
Insurance, Risk Management, and Statistics. From 1994-2004 Terri served as
Iowa's Insurance Commissioner and during that period served a term as President
of the National Association of Insurance Commissioners. From 1988-1994 she
was a Professor of Insurance at Drake. Her e-mail address is
