2006-07 Call for Proposals
Center for Digital
Technology and Learning
The Center for Digital Technology and
Learning is calling for faculty and staff development proposals that further
the use of digital technologies in learning, research and creative activities.
The CDTL has budgeted approximate $9000 for grants during the coming year.
Due Date: Proposals can be submitted anytime up to April
1, 2007 and will be reviewed periodically.
Project Guidelines: Projects must further the use of digital
technologies in learning, research and/or creative activities. Projects
involving new or existing web courses or that contribute to new or existing
Tier 2 or 3 courses in the Studies in Information Technology Concentration
(ISIT) concentration are particularly welcome (see www.drake.edu/cdtl/ISIT/
for more information about ISIT ). Examples of recent funded projects include
development of new courses involving technology; flim and audio equipment for
faculty research projects; technology for improvement of
exiting web courses; travel grants for faculty and staff; and funds for
speakers. For a complete list of projects funded in recent years
contact daniel.alexander@drake.edu
Due to the amount of funds available, it
is the CDTLs preference to fund several smaller projects rather than a few
large ones. If you do submit a proposal calling for expenditure of
considerably more than $1000.00, it might be a good idea to submit a
contingency budget of approximately $1000.00.
Use of Instructional Technology staff
and resources: You are encouraged to
use the resources of the Office for Information Technology, Cowles Library and
the Drake Telemedia Center. If your proposal calls for the use of
staff members from these organizations, contact them and include an
estimate of anticipated staff time in the budget for your proposal.
What needs to be submitted: There is no standard form, but your proposal should
include a narrative, a budget, any helpful supporting material and contact
information. If it is a collaborative proposal, please name a principal
contact. Your budget should include quotes for software or hardware, estimates
of instructional staff time, as well as a detailed list of other anticipated
expenses. Leaders of funded projects will be expected to write a brief report
upon completion of their project.
Proposals should be submitted
electronically to Dan Alexander at daniel.alexander@drake.edu.
Contact
Dan Alexander at (x3764) or daniel.alexander@drake.edu if you have any questions, if you would like to
discuss a potential proposal or if you have an idea for a proposal that does
not align directly with the above suggestions.
