3 Semester Hours of Credit

Theory of Coaching offers video segments that reveal the differences in various levels of competitive sport. Presenters point out the professional and personal roles all coaches must exhibit, and they offer some practical advice about how to use these roles to make the sporting experience a positive one for all.

Segments include:

  • Discover how a coach's self-awareness is essential to responsibilities in various athletic competitive arenas.
  • Present and promote the youth sport athletes "Bill of Rights."
  • Investigate the health related and skill related components of physical fitness.
  • Apply the eight exercise physiology principles of physical training.
  • Investigate the relationship between arousal and motor performance in athletic settings
  • Identify how relaxing and energizing techniques help regulate arousal for optimal athletic performance.
  • Recognize emerging issues in sport law and health.
