Central Mission of the Organization:

The Refugee Resettlement Program works to resettle individuals who have been forced to flee their home country because of war and persecution. About 130 individuals will resettle in Iowa this year through Catholic Charities.

Resettlement efforts focus on the first 90 to 180 days of arrival and include:

Assistance with housing, food & transportation
Cultural orientation
Job placement assistance
English language classes

International Issues and Focus:

Immigration and refugee issues.

Events and Programs Sponsored:

Help provide refugee and their families with basic necessities, such as furniture, household items, clothing. Assist refugees in obtaining housing and employment and in learning about the routines of daily life in a new setting.

Membership: There is no membership, but volunteers to assist refugee families in adjusting o their new lives in Iowa are needed and welcome.

Drake University’s Principal Financial Group Center for Global Citizenship (PFGCGC) will host a discussion on the Keystone XL Pipeline initiative in collaboration with the Iowa Energy Forum. General James Jones, a former national security advisor, will discuss the benefits of the pipeline initiative.
