FAQ

Question: Does Drake admit all students directly to the College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences or to a pre-pharmacy program in the arts and sciences college like most universities?

Answer: Drake does admit students directly to the College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences, but we are limited to 150 students each year. Due to the demand for and the rigor of the pre-pharmacy program, not all students who apply will be offered direct admission to CPHS. For the 2003-2004 academic year, 65% of all applicants were admitted directly to the CPHS.

The Admission Committee will consider all students for either direct admission to the College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences or admission to the College of Arts and Sciences. Students most likely to meet the Drake Difference entrance criteria to the professional program will be offered direct admission to the CPHS. Students admitted to the College of Arts and Sciences may still apply for entrance to the professional program. Arts and Sciences students may still essentially follow a pre-pharmacy curriculum, but cannot be offered the Drake PharmD Difference into the professional program upon meeting established criteria. Additional details about this may be found in the information on applying to the program as a student from Drake.
