• February 23, 2010: Pharmacy and Health Sciences Day. Presentation of Alumni Achievement Awards, the Hartig Distinguished Professor Award and Inaugural Granberg Award.
• April 21, 2010: Weaver Medal of Honor Lecture and Reception
• April 24, 2010: Drake Pharmacy Alumni Reception hosted by DRxUGS Student Organizations. The reception will be from 1:30 - 3:30, and will be held in the skywalk between Fitch and Harvey Ingham.
• June 11, 2010: Eggleston/Granberg Golf Classic at the Iowa Pharmacy Association Annual Meeting. This golf outing raises money for pharmacy scholarships at Drake University and the University of Iowa. To register, visit http://www.iarx.org
• April 22-23, 2011: SAVE THE DATE! ALL PHARMACY REUNION. Come back to Drake to reconnect with classmates, friends, and faculty; tour new buildings, and enjoy the Drake 2011 Relays!

ANNUAL RECEPTIONS

Drake hosts or co-hosts alumni receptions at the annual national meetings for ASHP, APhA, and AACP. Information on the 2009-2010 meetings and receptions is below.

• December 6-10, 2009: Iowa Reception at the ASHP National Meeting in Las Vegas. Hosted jointly by Drake University, the University of Iowa, and the Iowa Pharmacy Association. The reception will be on Monday, Dec. 7, 2009 / 6:00-7:00 pm at the Venetian Hotel.
• March 12-15, 2010: Iowa Reception at the APhA National Meeting in Washington, D.C. Time and Location TBD.

• July 12, 2010: Drake Pharmacy Alumni Reception at the AACP National Meeting in Seattle. This reception is for Drake PH alums serving as faculty at colleges/schools of pharmacy Time and Location TBD.

 WHITE COAT PROGRAM

A tradition that started in 1998, each year Drake’s College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences formally welcomes incoming students to the professional pharmacy program during our White Coat Ceremony. Each student is presented with her or his own white coat and nametag. Together, they recite the pledge of professionalism before their families, friends and the College faculty.

This ceremony serves as a symbolic rite of passage. Through the simple gesture of slipping a white coat over their shoulders, this ceremony is a meaningful celebration of the next chapter in these students’ lives – beginning the professional pharmacy program at Drake.

Alums and friends of the college are asked to sponsor white coats for our incoming students. By sponsoring a student, our alums are sending a strong message to our students that they are part of a larger community of Drake friends and pharmacists. Our students have been truly touched by the generosity of our alums that have participated in this program.

The cost to sponsor a student’s white coat is $50.  An additional gift of $50, $100 or $150 will also provide funds for the Student Travel Fund. This fund provides support for students that would like to attend professional meetings, scientific conferences or other professional development opportunities.
