Interested in Becoming a Drake Preceptor?

Thank you for your interest in becoming a preceptor for Drake University College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences!

Precepting provides many benefits:

  • Professionally and personally rewarding
  • An opportunity to give back to the profession
  • Access to adjunct faculty privileges, including library resources
  • An opportunity to learn from students who have been trained in the latest practices and procedures

Contact us at or by phone at 515.271.3191

Include some detailed information about your practice, the types of patient care services delivered, and information about your specific interests and experiences.  We will soon be back in touch to discuss the possibility of developing a rotation at your site.

Upon acceptance, preceptors must provide a completed adjunct biographical profile or CV and must also participate in a series of preceptor development modules.  These courses are completed at no charge and provide the preceptor with two hours of continuing education credit.  Participation in future modules will be required to maintain status as a preceptor with Drake each year.  The courses are provided in compliance with standards set forth in 2007 by the Accreditation Council on Pharmacy Education, requiring that new preceptors receive training applicable to new teaching role and that ongoing development opportunities be offered to experienced preceptors as well.  You will be provided with all the tools needed prior to the establishment of a rotation site.  We are committed to both the success of our students and the success of our preceptors as teachers and mentors.
