Ari Bass is 21 years old and from a suburb just north of Chicago. He is a junior at Drake and is studying advertising and graphic design. Ari enjoys snowboarding, having a good time and whatever comes along. No long-term plans, but Ari expects to stay in Des Moines this summer.



Stephanie Brown is a junior at Drake University studying public relations. She is a non-traditional student who graduated from high school more than 11 years ago. She is originally from Des Moines, Iowa. Stephanie has also lived in the Washington, D.C., area, where she worked for a Department of Defense contractor for several years.

Melanie Cloud, a sophomore at Drake University, is seeking a degree in public relations with a concentration in political science. She has been working on all issues related to women and has been very involved in the feminist movement. Next semester, Melanie hopes to be studying in London and working as an intern in Parliament. She was born and raised by her wonderful family in Olathe, Kan.



Jeff Cobble is an open journalism major from Los Alamos, N.M. He became interested in writing during his sophomore English class at Los Alamos High School. Jeff is a high jumper on the Drake track team. In his spare time he likes to read "The Savage Dragon," his favorite comic book, watch movies, play games, eat and sleep.



Heidi Crabtree is a 19-year-old freshman at Drake University with an open major in journalism and mass communication. She is originally from Des Moines, Iowa, and attended Abraham Lincoln High School. She enjoys traveling, reading, spending time with friends and chatting on the Internet.



Ryan Dunn is a first-year radio and television production major at Drake University. Ryan's hometown is Des Moines, Iowa. Ryan loves music. He enjoys going to concerts and listening to alternative bands. Ryan is also a sport freak. His favorite teams include the Miami Dolphins and the Atlanta Braves. As a hobby, Ryan collects shot glasses, and he is heavily involved with the Republican party.



Emily Flatt is a sophomore public relations major at Drake University. She is from Chesterfield, Mo., a suburb of St. Louis, where she graduated from Parkway Central High School in 1995. She was an active member of her church youth group and school music program. At Drake, she is a member of Kappa Alpha Theta sorority and serves as the risk manager for the Panhellenic Council. Her interests include sports and music.



Jessica Free is a first-year open journalism major from the small town of Lanark, Ill. As an aspiring writer, she served as editor of her high school yearbook and has written for her hometown newspaper, and, most recently, the Drake Magazine. Jessica is also hoping to be published in both The Times-Delphic and DUIN Magazine this semester.



Kate Hettinger, a resident of Lenexa, Kan., is currently a first-year student in news-editorial at Drake University. She has served as co-editor-in-chief of her high school newspaper and writes for The Times-Delphic at Drake. She is also actively involved with the Kappa Alpha Theta sorority and InterVarsity Christian Fellowship.



VA Hayman is a second-year open journalism major from Albuquerque, N.M. VA writes for The Times-Delphic, and loves playing rugby and skiing in New Mexico. In her junior year, VA plans on studying abroad in Spain, and she hopes to graduate with a Spanish minor.



Kyle Kaiser is a student of many disciplines. Along with Kyle's broadcast journalism major and political science concentration, Kyle is active in Drake music, where he is a percussionist, the Drake mock trial team, and campus political organizations. Kyle is a native of Coon Rapids, Iowa, a computer junkie and online editor of CyberPress.



Kimberly Kelley, a first-year student at Drake University, is an undeclared journalism major, looking toward a possible career in advertising. Originally from St. Louis, Kimberly was co-editor of her high school newspaper. When she's not busy reading Eugene O'Neill plays or dying her hair, she likes to write poetry and short stories.



Kirsten Koba is a magazine major from the heart of it all...Omaha, Neb. She is a leftist journalist, an open-minded feminist and a part-time anarchist. Kirsten is writing and fighting for something creative, something unique -- an anti-pop culture magazine called Blink, which she recently began with classmate and partner-in-crime Tiffany Pfeiffer. Look for it on newsstands everywhere (or at least at local clubs and cafes).



Michael Leinz is a freshman advertising major at Drake University. He hopes to complete the three-plus-three journalism and law program at Drake. Mike became interested in journalism during high school. He is from Arvada, Colo.



Amanda Lippon is a second-year student at Drake University, majoring in public relations. She has a concentration in Spanish and hopes to study in Spain next semester. Amanda's goal is to find a job in a city with a much warmer climate than the one found in Des Moines.



For two and a half years Courtney Little was an elementary education major. Then the second semester of her junior year, she switched to journalism. Courtney is from Colorado Springs, Colo. She loves to ski, hike and mountain bike. Courtney definitely misses the mountains!



Amy Neswold is a junior at Drake University, studying advertising. Originally, she is from her hometown of Naperville, Ill., a suburb of Chicago.



Brian Peterson, a sophomore at Drake University, is from West Des Moines, Iowa. He spent his freshman year at Iowa State University. Brian is currently enrolled in the College of Arts and Science with an open major but has an interest in journalism. Brian is involved with the track and cross country teams at Drake.



Tiffany Pfeiffer is a music (voice) and magazine journalism double-major from Omaha, Neb. Her ideal career would be to write music reviews, columns and in-depth news stories, while continuing to sing either classically or as part of a band. Tiffany, along with classmate Kirsten Koba, is currently pursuing her own magazine, called Blink, to address issues of unknown or unexplored culture in the Midwest and beyond.



Che'tiana Spaulding is a first-year student from Topeka, Kan., majoring in broadcast news at Drake University. She loves music and sports and aspires to have a career in sports journalism, preferably as a sportscaster or reporter. She is a loyal fan of the Kansas Jayhawks.



Michelle Swafford, from Kansas City, Kan., is a news-editorial major who is involved with many activities at Drake including The Times-Delphic. Other experiences include reporting for The Kansas City Star and her high school newspaper.



Jennifer Vogt is a news-editorial and education double major who aspires to write for her hometown newspaper in St. Louis. As a girl born and raised in St. Louis, Jennifer is an avid fan of the St. Louis Blues. Besides hockey and writing, spending time with family and friends keeps Jennifer smiling. If there is one thing Jennifer could say to the world it would be, "Have a little attitude. Life's more fun that way."
