“It’s My Watershed!”

This session is the first meeting of a new governmental authority with oversight over the watershed where you live, which is impacted by urban, residential and rural land uses. This new authority is charged with developing a plan to improve local water quality. Participants will take on identities as appointees to the board – and as interested citizens attending the meeting to express their opinions. Together, you are charged with developing a mission statement to guide the board’s decision making. Moderators will be Drake University Law School Professor Jerry Anderson and Jerry Peckumn, a farmer in the Raccoon River watershed who is a conservationist and board chair of Iowa Rivers Revival.
