Student Performances

Within the mission of the University and the Music Department, the Drake University Community School of Music (DUCSOM) and its faculty strive to awaken and nurture our students' musical talent.

Matt Bourland performs Chopin's Nocturne in E Minor, Op. 72, No.1 at a studio recital. Matt was named the 2015 District Winner of IMTA Level E. He is a student of Jessica Anderson.


Caleb Townsend plays Bourbon Street blues by William Gillock. Caleb recently received Honorable Mention for his performance of this modern jazz piece at District Piano Auditions for Level D (Ages 14-15). He also played pieces by CPE Bach and Grieg. He is a student of Jessica Anderson.


Fez Zafar plays Barcarolle of Barcelona by Catherine Rollin at a DUCSOM studio recital. Fez recently performed this piece at IMTA District Auditions and  received Honorable Mention, placing him in the top half of Level C participants (ages 12-13). He is a student of Jessica Anderson.


These are Jade Miller's first place winning performances (Level D) of Bach's Prelude in C minor and Cossack Dance by Christos Tsitsaros performed at the December 2012 IMTA district auditions. Jade is a Drake University Community School of Music (DUCSOM) student of Jessica Anderson.


Liv Wang performs Summer Cloudburst by Phillip Keveren at a DUCSOM studio recital. She was recently named the 2013 Winner of IMTA District auditions Level A for her performance of Summer Cloudburst and two other pieces. She is a student of Jessica Anderson.

Zenith Chamber Music Festival features free, daily performances at four locations in Des Moines. Zenith is scheduled for August 18-21 and is hosted by Drake University.
