Courses for Athletic Coaches and Physical Educators

Drake University Extension Education offers video correspondence courses for coaches and physical educators seeking graduate level credit. Nationally-renown coaches, top physical educators, and professional athletes lend their expertise to the video to bring real-world perspectives.

Enrollment in these video courses may be used for:

  • Renewal of teaching certificates.
  • Advancement on local salary schedules.
  • Elective credits on graduate degree programs.
  • Personal growth and development.
  • Renewal of coaching activities.

Those who enroll will receive a Study Guide with readings and activities that expand concepts presented. There are no tests or final papers. Instead, there are application assignments for each segment that require you to summarize, design a plan or demonstrate comprehension of a new idea.

Upon completion, coursework and videotapes or DVD should be sent immediately to Drake University’s Distance Learning Center for grading. Coursework is graded continuously throughout the semester and is graded in the order in which it is received.  Please allow 60 days for your course work to be graded. Although you have one year to complete each course, most coaches complete their work much sooner.

Expedited Grading

The Drake Distance Learning Center does offer expedited grading.  We will grade your materials and report a letter grade to our Registrar within 5 business days after receipt of your course work in our Distance Learning Center.  The expedited grading fee is $75.00 per course.  You must submit a check payable to Drake University with your course work, and include a written request for expedited grading.  Place your expedite request on top of your course work so it will be clearly visible.
